On Friday May 13 at 6pm, Terry Ballard will be presenting a program based on his book “Fifty Specialty Libraries of New York City: From Botany to Magic.” He will speak at the The General Society of Mechanics and Tradesmen Library. Ballard is the author of more than 70 articles in the library field, and has written two previous books. His presentation will focus on the libraries, such as the General Society of Mechanics and Tradesmen, that have been in existence for more than 100 years, or libraries housed in buildings more than a century old, such as the Explorer’s Club. Ballard celebrated his fifty year career in libraries (and 25th year in New York) by visiting little-known libraries in all five boroughs that are available to the interested researcher,
Admission is free. The presentation will be followed by a book signing and reception.
