The Army Corps of Engineers’ Worldwide Presence and Operations – A Strategic Update

Major General Jeffrey L. Milhornis Commander and Division Engineer of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, North Atlantic Division. As Division Commander, Major General Milhorn oversees an annual program of more than $5 billion to plan, design and construct projects to support the military, protect America’s water resources, mitigate risk from disasters, and restore and enhance the environment. He is also responsible for a variety of Division engineering and construction activities for international, federal, state and local governments and agencies in more than a dozen Northeastern states as well as overseas.

During his lecture, Major General Milhorn will discuss the complex logistics of managing this immense program. He will outline the vital role the Army Corps plays in both responding to and abating the impact of disasters, nationally and internationally. In addition he will provide a strategic update on future plans for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Major General Milhorn is responsible for Army Corps of Engineers construction projects and missions in the Northeast U.S., Europe and Africa. He previously served as the Deputy Commander of I Corps, Commander of the Pacific Ocean Division (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers) and U.S. Army Pacific Command Operations Officer. Maj. Gen. Milhorn is a distinguished military graduate from the University of Florida, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, and he holds a master’s degree in Construction Engineering and Project Management from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a National Security Fellow of Harvard University and is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri.
